Kara Taylor Interview and Giveaway!

In this breathtaking debut that reads like Gossip Girl crossed with Twin Peaks, a Queen Bee at a blue-blooded New England prep school stumbles into a murder mystery.

Anne Dowling practically runs her exclusive academy on New York’s Upper East Side—that is, until she accidentally burns part of it down and gets sent to a prestigious boarding school outside of Boston. Determined to make it back to New York, Anne could care less about making friends at the preppy Wheatley School. That is, until her roommate Isabella’s body is found in the woods behind the school.

When everyone else is oddly silent, Anne becomes determined to uncover the truth no matter how many rules she has to break to do it. With the help of Isabella’s twin brother Anthony, and a cute classmate named Brent, Anne discovers that Isabella wasn’t quite the innocent nerdy girl she pretended to be. But someone will do anything to stop Anne’s snooping in this fast-paced, unputdownable read—even if it means framing her for Isabella’s murder.

Interview with Kara Taylor!
Who do you feel is your most unique character?

Anne definitely has a unique perspective on things (which often gets her into trouble), but I feel as if she gets a lot of her traits from her father. In fact, Anne's dad is my editor's favorite character! He tells it like it is, even if he's not the most warm and fuzzy dad at times. The relationship between Anne and Mr. Dowling is one of my favorites to write.

What would you like for readers to take away from your novel/novels?

First, I want readers to have fun, but I'd like them to see themselves in Anne. Often, the things we don't like about ourselves can be our best assets. Anne screws up a lot and makes a lot of mistakes, but instead of feeling sorry for herself, she chooses to spin her mistakes into something positive. So in short: I want readers to know they're capable of anything, even their parents, friends, etc try to get them down.

What’s your favorite way to procrastinate?

Oh gosh, definitely Netflix. Lately I've been obsessed with Nikita. The other day I watched 7 (!) episodes in a row.

Tell us something about your book that we wouldn’t know just by reading the blurb.

There's a creepy stalker, a possible Russian spy posing as a teacher, and a ruthless senator's daughter who you DON'T want to mess with.

Is there one book that has had an impact on not only your writing, but on you personally?

SOME GIRLS ARE by Courtney Summers is a brutally honest depiction of bullying and toxic friendships. It made me re-evaluate how I treat others, for sure! I think every high schooler should have to read it.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
