Teagan Wylltson's best friend, Abby, dreams that horrifying creatures--goblins, shape-shifters, and beings of unearthly beauty but terrible cruelty--are hunting Teagan. Abby is always coming up with crazy stuff, though, so Teagan isn't worried. Her life isn't in danger. In fact, it's perfect. She's on track for a college scholarship. She has a great job. She's focused on school, work, and her future. No boys, no heartaches, no problems.
Until Finn Mac Cumhaill arrives. Finn's a bit on the unearthly beautiful side himself. He has a killer accent and a knee-weakening smile. And either he's crazy or he's been haunting Abby's dreams, because he's talking about goblins, too . . . and about being The Mac Cumhaill, born to fight all goblin-kind. Finn knows a thing or two about fighting. Which is a very good thing, because this time, Abby's right. The goblins are coming.

(I will not be posting any spoilers! Only opinion for the sake of those of us who love to have our first look at a book be untainted by foreknowledge.)

Down to earth. Finally. I was able to say it. A main character who is down to earth. Teagan is my kind of girl. She adores her family which is something I always love in a novel, she doesn’t care if she is the school cheerleader and just wants to be herself and is NOT always drooling over boys. I have been reading many novels lately that have a girl who is just waiting, wanting and desperate to fall in love. Teagan is not. I won’t spoil is she does end up finding a love interest of not *wink**wink* but I love this character.

That said, I would love this novel for Teagan alone but it also has adventure, creatures from the old stories such as goblins and each character actually had their own attributes that makes them special and unique making you love each one of them. I think readers of the Spiderwick Chronicles or other creature and myth based stories would enjoy this novel. It had an amazing main character, it is a great novel, even if it does have some really yucky uglies in it as some of the villains. It is overall, a satisfying read even if it won’t make it to my favorites shelf.

4 Stars!

Would I suggest you read it:

If you love Goblins you will love this, if you love down to earth main characters, you will love Teagan and it is a great story for a wider range of age groups so YES I would suggest it.
