Getting to know me FAQs

You are both an author and a book blogger. I heard that is taboo. What's the deal? I started book blogging in 2009 (before I had ever been published and back when even my friends and family had no idea I enjoyed writing). Book blogging introduced me to a community of lit fans which helped me realize I wasn't alone in my obsession. While I realize many wouldn't consider me a book blogger (post publication), it is what I started out doing and have continued to since. I don't share books I don't enjoy but when I enjoy a book I want the world to know so that others can weigh in their own opinions and possibly discover new reads they might enjoy from my recommendations. You don't stop looking at art just because you have started drawing, do you?

Do you review other author’s works?
Yes and no. I recommend novels I enjoy but I have to enjoy them enough to give a 4 or 5 star rating or I will refuse to feature them. If it doesn’t get at least 4 stars then it really isn’t much of a recommendation. :p

I would like to be featured on your blog or The Writers Voice. What do I do?
Just send an e-mail my way (Emma@EmmaMichaels.com) and I will get you sorted out. <3

What are your cover art prices?
My prices vary per project and always include a fairly steep discount if the stock for the image is provided. I do give publishers a special discount as well. You can expect any project estimate to be between $35 - $300 depending on what is needed for the project in question.
If you need cover art but are having a hard time finding an affordable cover artist let me know and we can see if you qualify to be one of my pro-bono projects. <3

Can I have an ARC of your book?
Depends on the book and your timing. I work with a number of different publishers now, so your best bet is to go through them BUT feel free to message me and I can give you the e-mails of the person regarding the specific novel. If you can’t afford a copy but really want to read it and are worried you won’t meet the criteria, email me and if I have the funds available I will gift you a copy. <3
What came first: the characters or the plot?
One character always comes before the plot and the rest tend to come after the plot or at the same time. The one character is rarely the main character though. It has only ever been the MC once and that was with Owlet.

A LOT. I LOVE to laugh. One video that always makes me laugh but is slightly inappropriate is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-Wd-Q3F8KM I know! I know! It is horrible but I can’t help myself!
What was the most romantic moment in your life?
My most romantic moment was the first time I saw my now fiancé in person. I realized before that moment I had never shown a single living soul who I really was and decided he was the one person I would give that chance to. I remember my first thought when I saw him standing there smiling at me was ‘Give him a chance. A real one. The kind of chance you’ve never given anyone before.’ I did and he has always accepted me for everything I am; the good, the bad and the broken. I can’t think of anything more romantic than someone knowing the worst in you and still adoring you for everything you are because they get you in a way no one else ever could. I had been on a crash course to self destruction but as he accepted me, I learned to do the same. That one moment when I decided to give him a chance and he smiled at me before kissing me changed everything and no matter what the future holds, I will never forget or regret it.
