Welcome to P.U.P.I.—Private, Unaffiliated, Paranormal Investigations
A handpicked team trained to solve crimes the regular police can't touch—crimes of magic.
My name's Bonnie Torres. Recent college grad, magic user and severely unemployed. Until I got a call out of nowhere to interview for a job I hadn't applied for. It smelled fishy, but the brutal truth was I needed the work—so off I went.
Two days later I'm a PUPI—me and Nick, Sharon, Nifty and Pietr. Five twentysomethings, thrown into an entirely new career in forensic magic.
The first job we get is a doozy: proving that the deaths of two Talents were murder, not suicide. Worse, there are high-profile people who want us to close up shop and go away. We're sniffing out things they'd rather keep buried.
Looks as if this job is gonna get interesting. The only problem is, we're making it up as we go along….
(I will not be posting any spoilers! Only opinion for the sake of those of us who love to have our first look at a book be untainted by foreknowledge.)
I am impressed. This year seems to be full of amazing beginnings to new series and Hard Magic is no exception. Each of the characters are unique and imperfect which is something I love because it means that not only is there room for the characters to grow in future novels but they are characters I can relate to more and hopefully you will feel the same. This series is a spin-off of the Retrievers books Staying Dead, Curse the Dark, Bring it on, Burning Bridges, etc. but don’t expect a retriever novel. This novel is amazing and something entirely new. Take it as it comes and you are sure to enjoy it!
4 1/2 Stars!
Would I suggest you read it:
I would suggest this novel to anyone looking to start a new series, who enjoy the topic of magical investigation or investigation with magical or paranormal aspects and anyone looking for some rock solid characters who are flawed and all the better because of it.

Oh this sounds like a fun one! I love series. When I find a book I really love, I never want it to end. And you just can't go wrong with paranormal. Thanks for the review!
